Rakhar, located in the Rakhar sector, was an inhabited planet in the Gamma Quadrant. This was the homeworld of the Rakhari species. Nehelik Province was an area in the southern hemisphere of the planet and Exarch was a high level rank.

Changelings were known in Rakhari mythology.

In the 2360s, Croden spoke out against the repressive policies of the government. For doing so, Croden's family were killed.

The planet was first visited by the United Federation of Planets in 2369 by Benjamin Sisko and Jadzia Dax aboard the USS Rio Grande. (DS9: "Vortex")
