Quark's Treasure en route to Starfleet Academy

File:Ferengi Shuttle photo.jpg

Photograph taken in 1947 of Quark's Treasure.

The Quark's Treasure was a warp-capable Ferengi shuttle given to Quark by his cousin Gaila in 2372 as a fullfillment of a promise Gaila made when Quark loaned him the latinum to start a munitions consortium. He also loaded the shuttle with contraband kemocite upon delivery to Quark.

The shuttle had a fast propulsion system. Rom speculated, upon inspecting the vessel, that it could outrun a Romulan interceptor.

The first (and only) voyage of the Quark's Treasure was a trip to Earth, under the pretext of taking Quark's nephew, Nog, to Starfleet Academy. In reality, Quark was planning to make a side trip to Orion to sell the kemocite.

Gaila was not fond of Quark, however, and the warp drive was sabotaged so that, once activated, it would not shut down or eject the warp core, potentially (and perhaps intentionally) causing the craft to accelerate out of control until the ship destroys itself. Rom attempted to force the shuttle out of warp by exposing warp plasma to the Kemocite. The attempt suceeded in dropping the ship out of warp, but it also resulted in them travelling back in time to 1947, crash-landing near Roswell, New Mexico. After escaping from military custody and returning to their ship, Rom was able to return their ship to the proper time by flying into an atomic bomb blast and exposing the remaining kemocite to the resulting beta radiation.

Upon returning to 2372, the vessel was deemed a total loss, as Quark was forced to sell the vessel for salvage. It allowed them to book passage back to Deep Space 9. (DS9: "Little Green Men")
