Pyris VII

Pyris VII was the seventh planet in the Pyris system. This system was located in the Beta Quadrant. (TOS: "Catspaw", TNG: "Conspiracy")

Prior to 2267, several surveys had revealed no life. In 2267, the aliens Sylvia and Korob established a base there for the purpose of learning about the worlds of the Federation. Sylvia became infatuated with sensation, and dangerously irrational. To stop her, James T. Kirk destroyed the transmuter. Without its power, the two aliens quickly perished. (TOS: "Catspaw")

BackgroundEdit

The original appearance of Pyris VII was replaced when the episode "Catspaw" was remastered in 2006.

Additionally, a new matte was created to represent the castle located on the planet, using the original shot of the fog-shrouded entryway and building the full castle on top of it.

Pyris VII was mentioned (as "Pyrix VII") as a small note on a very large star chart graphic created for TNG: "Conspiracy". It was the image behind the chair in the room where Dexter Remmick was killed. It appears to be located within an outlined block, which may indicate that it was surrounded or was even a part of Federation territory at the time. It appeared to be near Capella.
