Doctor Puri was the chief medical officer aboard the USS Enterprise during its maiden voyage in 2258.
Shortly after launching, the Enterprise became involved in a combat situation with the Romulan mining vessel Narada. During the attack, Puri was killed while on deck six, leaving Dr. Leonard McCoy in command of sickbay. (Star Trek)
