In 2369, when Cardassians were threatening to attack Deep Space 9. Miles O'Brien ran a pulse compression wave through one of the stations original Cardassian phasers. He was hoping the high-energy discharge would convince the attacking Cardassians of Kira's bluff, that the station was armed with new integrated Starfleet phaser banks. (DS9: "Emissary")
