Proximity Alert

A proximity alert was an alert signal aboard a starship that indicated when another vessel was approaching.

In 2256, in a binary system on the edge of Federation space, while on a space walk; Commander Michael Burnham's thruster suit's computer voice informed her of a proximity alert, alerting her to the danger of a Klingon torchbearer. (DIS: "The Vulcan Hello")

In 2259 of the alternate reality, Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu reported to Captain James T. Kirk that the USS Enterprise's proximity alert had sounded when the USS Vengeance was detected heading right towards the Enterprise's location in Klingon space at warp speed. (Star Trek Into Darkness)

In 2263 of the same alternate reality, Ensign Pavel Chekov reported a proximity alert triggered by an unidentifiable "ship", which soon turned out to be an amalgamation of innumerable tiny spacecraft, approaching the Enterprise. (Star Trek Beyond)
