A potluck was a term for having people bring their own food to a party to provide nourishment for the guests.

In 2376, Neelix organized a potluck in the USS Voyager's mess hall after the ship's confrontation with the crew of the USS Equinox, as a way to save power by having the crew not rely on the ship's replicator. Commander Chakotay was due to replicate a salad and Captain Kathryn Janeway was bringing the croutons. (VOY: "Equinox, Part II")
