A police record or criminal record is a general term for a compiled database that includes a record of crimes, reported by police or security officers, that an individual has committed or has been accused of committing. These are also sometimes known as security files.

In the 2020s, people with criminal records were not permitted to live in Sanctuary Districts. (DS9: "Past Tense, Part I")

The Federation had an extensive police record on Harry Mudd. (TOS: "Mudd's Women", "I, Mudd"; TAS: "Mudd's Passion")

The Angosians had no police record of the chemically and psychologically altered soldier Roga Danar. (TNG: "The Hunted")

In 2369 the Kobliad criminal scientist Rao Vantika accessed the computer memory of Deep Space 9 and gained access to all of the security files regarding the deuterium shipment from the Gamma Quadrant. (DS9: "The Passenger")

Odo kept track of criminal activities aboard Deep Space 9 known as criminal activity reports. (DS9: "Heart of Stone", "Crossfire")

Such information is presumably added to the police records of individuals found on these reports.

In 2370, the Cardassians regarded Miles O'Brien's service in the Federation-Cardassian War, where he killed many Cardassians, as being his criminal record. (DS9: "Tribunal")
