Planetoid or asteroid is the common designation for a small celestial body orbiting a star.
Several planetary classifications have been applied to these bodies including:
Planetoids have characteristic diameters between a few to several hundred kilometers and are sometimes referred to as "minor planets".
Regula was designated as a planetoid by Spock. (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan)
The Dominion was fond of constructing facilities on or around asteroids, such as internment camps like Internment Camp 371 and ketracel-white facilities. (DS9: "In Purgatory's Shadow", "By Inferno's Light", "A Time to Stand")
According to Croden, the Chamra Vortex is home to millions of asteroids. Croden concealed his daughter Yareth in one of the larger asteroids. (DS9: "Vortex")
In 2371, the USS Voyager discovered a planetoid in the Delta Quadrant that was giving off dilithium signatures. The planetoid was actually a Vidiian outpost. (VOY: "Phage")
