A plague was an outbreak of an infectious disease that affected people over an extensive geographical area, otherwise known as a pandemic. There weare also specific infectious diseases that were given the name plague.

Some examples of such diseases include the following:

• Terrellian plague (ENT: "Singularity" and VOY: "Message in a Bottle")

• Dramian auroral plague (TAS: "Albatross")

• Phyrox plague (TNG: "Allegiance")

• Plasma plague (TNG: "The Child")

• Rudellian plague (DS9: "Rules of Engagement")

• Teplan blight (DS9: "The Quickening")
