In an alternate 2372, after his father died, Jake Sisko considered again to join the Pennington School. Nog was happy about this decision because they would both stay on Earth. Although Jake still had his doubts, he eventually graduated several years later. (DS9: "The Visitor")

The Star Trek: Vanguard series of novels features a 23rd century journalist named Tim Pennington, after whom the Pennington School is presumably named.
There is also a boarding school in New Jersey with the same name.
