==Background Information==

The penalty box is commonly used in [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hockey|hockey]]. The box is located across from each player's bench, and is occupied by a player who committed an infraction to the rules of the game. While a player is sitting in the box, as long as he is not sitting in for a misconduct, the offending team cannot replace him for the duration of the penalty. Most players sit in the box for two to five minutes, depending on the severity of the penalty, or shorter if the opposing team has scored during the minutes of the penalty, as long as the penalty is not a "major penalty".
