Paul Lynch (born 11 June 1946; age 77) is a director who directed ten episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine between 1987 and 1993.

Lynch also directed episodes of Moonlighting, The Ray Bradbury Theater, The Twilight Zone, Beauty and the Beast, The Outer Limits, Murder, She Wrote, Robocop, Sliders and Xena: Warrior Princess. He also directed Avery Brooks in the 1993 television movie Spenser: Ceremony, which was based on the television series Spenser: For Hire.

Paul Lynch preferred shooting on the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine sets to the Enterprise sets of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Lynch commented: "What I immediately learned is I love to shoot Deep Space Nine. The sets are more interesting to shoot than those on the Enterprise. The Enterprise has a great look, but it's very cold and clinical. There's a limit to what you can do on that spaceship. DS9 is a twisted kind of place, so it's much more exciting to photograph. The sets are more complex, so it makes the filming complex, more challenging". (The Official Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Magazine Vol. 3)

Wil Wheaton has said, "Paul Lynch, who directed this episode ["The Naked Now"], directed several episodes of TNG over the years. He was an Englishman who was always extraordinarily wound up, red-faced, sweating profusely, and infamous for saying "Energy! Energy! Energy! And, and, and, and, action!" before takes. He did this before every take, regardless of whether the scene actually called for "Energy! Energy! Energy!" or not. During production of a later episode, in a scene when Brent had the first line, Paul did his "and, and, and, and, and ACTION!" thing. Instead of starting the scene, Brent looked at Paul, and said, very seriously, "Can I get another 'and' please?" to which Paul enthusiastically replied, "Yes! AND AND AND! ACTION!"." [1]
