A parity trace scan is a method to reconstruct computer logs that have been lost.
In 2371, B'Elanna Torres ran a parity trace scan on the sensor logs of Chakotay and Tuvok's shuttlecraft, revealing that the logs had been erased, not damaged by an attack as Tuvok had claimed. (VOY: "Cathexis")
