"Out of Nowhere" was a song recorded in 1941. It was included as part of the programming for the Dixon Hill holonovels.

The lyrics in part read:

You came to me out of nowhere,
You took my heart and found it free
Wonderful dream, wonderful schemes, from nowhere...

In 2364, this was the song heard by Captain Jean-Luc Picard when he entered the world of Dixon Hill on the holodeck for the first time. (TNG: "The Big Goodbye")

It is a musical joke of sorts because the theme to Star Trek: The Original Series had the same harmonic progression. Producer Robert Justman suggested the song to be used in the Next Generation episode. (Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion)
"Out of Nowhere" was composed by Johnny Green, lyrics by Edward Heyman.
