An osmotic micropump was a technology used by V'Ger to construct the Ilia probe.
In the mid-2270s, Dr. Christine Chapel examined the Ilia probe in the USS Enterprise's sickbay and found the osmotic micropump inside the probe. (Star Trek: The Motion Picture)
The graphic of the osmotic micropump was later used as the image of the Genesis wave in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
