Lieutenant junior grade Orfil Solis was 24th century Starfleet command division officer who served as a relief flight controller aboard the USS Enterprise-D in 2364.

Orfil was young and inexperienced; he was left as the conn officer when most of the Enterprise senior staff was trapped on the planet Minos. The ship was subsequently attacked by the Echo Papa 607, and Solis was nervous about his combat performance. Counselor Deanna Troi instructed acting captain Geordi La Forge to treat Solis with more understanding and give him more encouragement, as Picard did with La Forge. Solis returned to Minos with the stardrive section after the saucer section was separated and sent to safety. The extra encouragement from La Forge gave Solis more confidence, and he worked with the rest of the bridge crew to successfully destroy the orbiting weapons drone and rescue the away team.
