The Orb of Time in its box
The Orb of Time is one of the nine Tears of the Prophets left by the beings known as the Prophets. The Orb was removed from Bajor by the Cardassian occupational forces some time prior to 2369 for further study.
In 2373, the Detapa Council returned the Orb to the Bajoran people, by way of the USS Defiant. During its return journey, the Defiant was transported 105 years into the past by Arne Darvin, who sought to change the future of his younger self by assassinating James T. Kirk.
