Optical data net service access was a function provided by a number of devices utilized by the Federation Starfleet during the mid-24th century.
Allowing users to gain access to library computer information and subspace communications on desktop terminals and PADDs, these devices tapped directly into the optical data network. (DS9: "Armageddon Game"; Star Trek: First Contact)
Glimpsed only fleetingly on both Captain Benjamin Sisko's and Jean-Luc Picard's desktop monitors, "Optical data net service access" labels could also be found adhered to PADDs as seen in The Art of Star Trek.
