Opti-cable was a type of optical cable used aboard Constellation-class starships. Opti-cable could be used for creating a routing bypass in the ship's computer system.
In rigging the USS Hathaway for Operation Lovely Angel, Lieutenant Worf ripped a bundle of opti-cable from bridge ceiling so that Ensign Nagel could use it to make the necessary modifications to fool the USS Enterprise-D's sensors against it to create a false image of another hostile ship. (TNG: "Peak Performance")
StarTrek.com describes opti-cable in more detail than was described in the episode. There it stated that it was "the fiber-optic cable used in Federation starship computer systems by the optical data network (ODN)." [1]
