A nucleonic beam was a form of particle transmission, likely composed of the two nucleons, neutrons and protons.

A low-level nucleonic beam was transmitted from the Kataan probe in 2368. At first, it scanned for a host for Kamin's memories but when it found Captain Jean-Luc Picard, it took the form of a narrow reciprocating band, focusing on the captain.

An attempt was made to reflect the particle transmission back to the probe but this proved highly difficult, as it endangered the captain's life. In the end, the crew had to wait until the whole transmission of memories was complete. Then the transmission ended on its own and the probe shut down. (TNG: "The Inner Light")
