A peninsula was a piece of land surrounded by water for most of its border, but not completely separated from the mainland like an island.

When in orbit of Haven in 2364, the last few surviving Tarellians, led by Wrenn, asked for the permission to settle " on the edge of some sea, some unpopulated island, [or] a faraway peninsula" on the planet. (TNG: "Haven")

The base at Tananda Bay was located down the peninsula from the caves where the triage unit run by Doctor Kalandra was set up on the planet Ajilon Prime. (DS9: "Nor the Battle to the Strong")

Known Peninsulas[]

Great Lakes

Michigan, consisting of two peninsulas, surrounded by the Great Lakes

Bajor's peninsulas[]

Northern peninsula[]

The northern peninsula of Bajor was a land mass that supported substantial agricultural activities. As a concession for being able to hold a Ferengi-Dosi business conference on Deep Space 9 in 2370, Commander Benjamin Sisko demanded that Grand Nagus Zek give the region 50,000 kilos of brizeen nitrate. Kira Nerys noted that such an amount would fertilize the entirety of the peninsula. (DS9: "Rules of Acquisition")

Northwest peninsula[]

The northwest peninsula of Bajor was land mass mainly covered in plains, which were largely uninhabited in 2370, were ideal for farming. During the Occupation of Bajor, the Cardassians caused damage to the land, making it less than ideal. Haneek guaranteed her people, the Skrreeans, could make the land thrive again. The Bajoran Provisional Government representative countered, what would the Skreeans do if the situation was not ideal? What would they do if there was another long winter, if the crops failed, or if the famine plaguing Bajor spreads? The Bajorans were finding themselves unable of taking care of themselves and were unable to take on the responsibility of taking care of the Skrreeans. For this reason, the government, acting in accordance with the Vedek Assembly, denied their request for immigrating to the peninsula. (DS9: "Sanctuary")

Gaia's peninsulas[]

Southern peninsula[]

The southern peninsula on the planet Gaia was identified by Worf, in 2373, as the location where several settlements were scattered, with approximately 8,000 inhabitants. (DS9: "Children of Time")
