The Northwest Peninsula was an uninhabited region of Bajor which had fertile soil. It would have been an ideal place to farm prior to the Occupation of Bajor by the Cardassian Union. Toxins plagued the soil after the Cardassian withdrawal, and it was on this basis that the Bajoran Provisional Government denied the Skrreeans' request to immigrate to the peninsula. (DS9: "Sanctuary")
It is unclear which province the Northwest Peninsula was located in.
