The Next Emanation was a term used by the Vhnori to describe the afterlife. It was part of their death tradition. They would place the bodies of the dead into subspace vacuoles believing that this would transport them to the Vhnori afterlife.

In 2371, when Harry Kim of the USS Voyager was accidentally drawn through a cenotaph to the Vhnori homeworld, he disturbed the Vhnori's faith in their afterlife. (VOY: "Emanations")
