The New York Giants were an American professional baseball team based out of New York City during the first half of the 20th century. They later moved to San Francisco to become the San Francisco Giants in the latter half of the century.
Willie Mays played most of his career for the Giants. (DS9: "In the Cards") In a vision sent to Benjamin Sisko by the Prophets in 2374, Willie Hawkins was a player for the Giants. In the vision, the Giants were in fifth place in the League. (DS9: "Far Beyond the Stars")
While not mentioned by name in dialogue, the team's legendary run to the 1951 World Series was referred to by Dr. Stubbs in TNG: "Evolution". Stubbs describes an at-bat with (Whitey) "Lockman", (Alvin) "Dark", and (Bobby) "Thomson", all Giants players who were involved in what baseball fans remember as the "Shot Heard 'Round the World".
