Neutron flux was a physical phenomenon. Exposure to neutron flux could lead to the kind of symptoms Dr. Lewis Zimmerman was experiencing in 2376. Hence one of the first things The Doctor asked him when he started examining him was if he was ever exposed to Theta radiation or neutron flux.
