A navigational control satellite, or NavCon satellite, was a type of artificial satellite used by the Federation. These satellites kept logs in the form of NavCon files.

One such satellite was in orbit of Saturn in 2368. During a standard sensor sweep this satellite captured images of Nova Squadron performing a Yeager loop. (TNG: "The First Duty")
