A nanopulse laser was an exotic and advanced component, utilizing laser technology, created by Andromedan androids of the planet Mudd.

Norman attempted to entice Montgomery Scott by showing him one of their workshops that contained a device that was hand-worked to the finest tolerances, and included such components as microvision and a nanopulse laser.
