Nane was a Bajoran Vedek and art instructor on Bajor.

In 2374 Nane taught Gul Dukat's daughter Tora Ziyal focusing techniques that helped Ziyal see entire images in her mind before committing them to paper or canvas. Ziyal's subsequent ink brush drawings were accepted for exhibition at the prestigious Cardassian Institute of Art. (DS9: "Sons and Daughters")
