Lieutenant Nancy Randolph was navigator aboard survey ship USS Ariel in 2269. On a mission to Lactra VII, Randolph and the entire Ariel crew were captured by the Lactrans. Randolph became ill with a malaria-type disease, caused by an insect bite, while in captivity. Doctor Leonard McCoy was able to treat her after the Lactrans sensed his thoughts, realized the situation, and returned his medkit. (TAS: "The Eye of the Beholder")
