Background information Edit

The registry on the model

This model was first seen in Star Trek: The Motion Picture as the spacedock the USS Enterprise was launched from. It was heavily modified and labeled with the registry of NAR-30974 for Generations. The registry can be seen on screen as the Enterprise leaves the structure.

While labeled as a drydock, this facility was only referred to as a spacedock in the script and on screen.

USS Voyager in drydock

The drydock was recreated at Foundation Imaging, under supervision of Adam Lebowitz as a CGI model that the USS Voyager was launched from at Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards in the episode "Relativity", as well as to represent several other spacedocks at the site. (Star Trek: The Magazine Volume 1, Issue 6, p. 50) (A reverse view of the docked Voyager, not utilized in the episode, is afforded on Lebowitz's blog.) The Voyager drydock would have been smaller than the one the Enterprise was launched from, though, based on the sizes of the two vessels. The same CGI model was used as yet another differently sized drydock on the cover of the Star Trek: Ships of the Line (2001) calendar.
