Moscow is a major city on Earth, the former capital of the nation-state Russia, as well as that country's previous incarnation, the Soviet Union.

Pavel Chekov stated that the Garden of Eden was just outside Moscow. He claimed that it was "a very nice place" and that "it must've made Adam and Eve very sad to leave." (TOS: "The Apple")

In 1944 of an alternate timeline, the Nazis had been successful in their invasion of Russia in World War II, and had captured the city.
