Mister is a title of respect given to a man when addressing him. It is usually social in nature, but can used for many differently ranked Starfleet personnel, usually by a superior officer.

- This movie contains the only instances of a woman being called 'Mister' by another Starfleet officer. Following the Kobayashi Maru simulation, Admiral Kirk refers to Lieutenant Saavik as 'Mister.' When Captain Spock orders Saavik to pilot the Enterprise out of spacedock, he calls her "Mister Saavik."
