Memory Alpha  AboutPolicies and guidelinesFA policiesFA criteria → Featured article nominations

This page is for the nomination and discussion of articles that may be potentially included in Memory Alpha's list of featured articles. A featured article is an especially well-written, informative, and comprehensive article that covers all available information on a subject. If you feel one of our articles meets this criteria, you may suggest it here in accordance with the nomination policy. For a list of articles previously nominated, see the archive.

To nominate an article, start a new discussion under "Nominations without objections" with a heading containing a link back to the article you want to suggest. Provide a two to three-paragraph summary of the article (usually the article's lead-in if possible) with an appropriate picture, this will be what is displayed in the portals if the nomination is successful, followed by a brief reason why you feel the article should be featured. If you are nominating an article that you have worked on, please note that the nomination is a self-nomination.

Sample format:

=== [[ARTICLE]] ===
[[File:<image>|thumb|<caption>]]
<summary>
----
<reasoning> - <signature>

Once this is done, a notice that the article has been nominated as a featured article candidate should be added to the article in question by inserting {{fan}} at the top of the page, above any other templates except the article type template.

When you are commenting on a nomination, please take the time to read the entire article before you decide whether to Support or Oppose the nomination. Nominations with objections should be moved to the appropriate section until they are resolved.

When supporting or opposing an article, please use a bullet point (by adding a * before your comment) without any indent so these will be easy to find later. General comments should be indented as usual, and, as always, please sign your nominations and comments with "~~~~".

William Ross (2375)

William J. Ross was a human male who served as a Starfleet officer in the mid- to late-24th century. As an Admiral, Ross took command of military operations during the Dominion War and led the Allied forces during the Battle of Cardassia, later presiding over the signing of the Treaty of Bajor, which ended the war.

A seasoned Starfleet officer, Ross was stationed at Starbase 375 from 2374 and played an active role in the co-ordination of Starfleet and Allied forces in the region. He was present for, and endorsed, Captain Benjamin Sisko's plan to retake starbase Deep Space 9 from Dominion forces and was involved in the planning for the First Battle of Chin'toka.

The following year, Ross was placed in the middle of a dispute over Romulan plasma torpedoes on the Bajoran moon of Derna which led to a blockade of the moon by Colonel Kira Nerys. He was later instrumental in avoiding armed conflict by convincing the Romulans to remove the weapons. Ross later commanded Starfleet forces in the final battle of the war, the Battle of Cardassia, resulting in victory over the Dominion.

I would like to nominate the William Ross article for consideration as a featured article. I have done a considerable amount of work on this over recent weeks with regards to adding missing in-universe information and the addition of what I believe to be a comprehensive background section. Following this, I placed the article on a peer review which has since concluded and I now believe that it is a stable, complete and interesting article on one of Deep Space Nine's most memorable recurring characters. --| TrekFan Open a channel 09:22, March 3, 2014 (UTC)
