The Melona colony was a Federation colony established on Melona IV in early 2368. The USS Enterprise-D transported the first colonists to the planet and helped lay the groundwork.

The colony would have featured a hospital facility located in a grove of trees, a school, an arts center, and several residential pods. After six months, the next wave of colonists would have arrived at the planet.

Before any structures were built, however, the Crystalline Entity devastated the planet and destroyed all lifeforms, including plants, insects, and bacteria. Most of the colonists survived, but colonization was no longer possible. (TNG: "Silicon Avatar")
