Matthew Yuricich (19 January 1923 – 28 May 2012; age 89) is the brother of Richard Yuricich and was the matte artist for Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
He began creating matte paintings in 1950 and his first work was in The Day the Earth Stood Still, directed by The Motion Picture director Robert Wise. Between the making of that first film and his Star Trek assignment, he also worked on Forbidden Planet, Ben Hur, North by Northwest, Logan's Run and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and after that assignment, most notably, on Blade Runner. He won an Academy Award for Logan's Run and an Oscar nomination for Close Encounters of the Third Kind. For Star Trek, he worked as part of Future General Corporation under Douglas Trumbull's supervision. {The Making of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, p. 211)
