Maryann Brandon, ACE is a film editor who, along with Mary Jo Markey, edited Star Trek and the Star Trek Into Darkness for director/producer J.J. Abrams. She and Markey have both received an Eddie Award nomination from the American Cinema Editors for their work on Star Trek.
Like many other production staff members working on Star Trek, Brandon has collaborated with Abrams in the past. She was an editor on his hit series Alias, for which she earned an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Single Camera Picture Editing for a Drama Series. She was also an associate director on Alias during its fourth season and even directed a few episodes. More recently, Brandon co-edited Abrams' first feature film, the Paramount Pictures release Mission: Impossible III. She worked with fellow editor Mary Jo Markey on both Alias and M:I III.
Brandon's first editing job was that of assistant music editor on the 1986 comic film Off Beat, which featured William Sadler, Mike Starr and Anthony Zerbe. She then worked as an assistant film editor for 1987's Black Widow (starring Terry O'Quinn) and 1988's Bright Lights, Big City. Her earliest works as head film editor were the 1989 films All's Fair (starring Sally Kellerman) and Race for Glory (starring Ray Wise). Her first television editing work was the failed 1992 pilot for The Witches of Eastwick, whose cast included Star Trek: Voyager star Robert Picardo and Star Trek: The Next Generation guest actor Erich Anderson.
Her other editing credits include the films Born to Be Wild (starring John Billingsley, Gregory Itzin, Alan Ruck, and Titus Welliver), Grumpier Old Men, and A Thousand Acres (featuring Keith Carradine, Bob Gunton, John Carroll Lynch, and Kenneth Tigar) and the made-for-TV movies Wild Card (starring Rene Auberjonois and Terry O'Quinn), The Hunley, The Miracle Worker, and Child Star: The Shirley Temple Story. She more recently edited the 2007 romantic drama film The Jane Austen Book Club and is currently a co-editor on the upcoming film Gulliver's Travels.
