Marsupial surprise was a dish prepared by Neelix in 2376, when USS Voyager docked at the Markonian outpost and opened its doors, allowing free access to the ship for anyone on the space station. One ingredient of the dish was algae, of which Neelix at the time only had two kilograms in stock, making him unable to make enough Marsupial surprise for all who wanted some.
