Type: Planet
Location: Pallas 14 system
Alpha Quadrant
Affiliation: United Federation of Planets

Mantilles was an inhabited planet. It was the second planet in the Pallas 14 planetary system. This system was located in the Alpha Quadrant. The planet was affiliated with the United Federation of Planets.

Prior to stardate 5371, a Federation colony was established on this planet. It was the most remote inhabited planet in the Federation, lying at the outer fringe of the galaxy. Mantilles was home to 82 million people, and was governed by retired Starfleet commodore Robert Wesley.

In 2269, Mantilles came under threat by an unknown cosmic cloud creature. Governor Wesley's attitude prevented planet-wide panic, and five thousand children were successfully evacuated before the cloud reached the planet. The crew of the USS Enterprise managed to stop the creature before consuming Mantilles. (TAS: "One of Our Planets Is Missing")

Pallas 14's location in the Milky Way Galaxy was depicted on a Federation star chart in 2293. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, production art)

Background information Edit

According to Star Trek Maps, Mantilles became the 25th Federation member in 2248.

"The Explored Galaxy" Edit

"The Explored Galaxy" was a map of charted space in the Alpha Quadrant. Pallas 14 was located between the Tholian Assembly and Romulus. Both locations were identified in DS9: "The Search, Part II", "Call to Arms" as being located in this quadrant. The chart, first seen chronologically in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, was also seen in several Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episodes set in the 24th century, from the year 2364 to 2370. These were TNG: "Conspiracy", "The Measure Of A Man", "The Emissary", "The Mind's Eye", "The Game", and DS9: "In the Hands of the Prophets", "Cardassians".

Star Trek: Star Charts Edit

Mantilles was listed as a member planet of the Federation in 2378. ("United Federation of Planets I")

Apocrypha Edit

Mantilles was featured in the novelization of "One of Our Planets Is Missing" in Star Trek Log 1 and mentioned in the novelization of TAS: "The Lorelei Signal" in Star Trek Log 2.
