Mallory Sr. was the father of USS Enterprise security officer Lieutenant Mallory.

In 2250, he helped a young James T. Kirk get into Starfleet Academy. After assuming command of the Enterprise, Kirk repayed the favor by having Mallory's son serve aboard his ship. Unfortunately, the younger Mallory was killed by Vaal in 2267. (TOS: "The Apple")
