Makus III was the third planet in the Makus planetary system. Makus III was located 3 days away from Murasaki 312 at warp 1. (TOS: "The Galileo Seven") This system was located in the Alpha Quadrant. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, display graphic)

In 2267, the USS Enterprise carried emergency medical supplies to be transferred to New Paris colonies. The Enterprise rendezvoused with the ship designated to carry the supplies to New Paris at Makus III. (TOS: "The Galileo Seven")

The location of Makus III in the Milky Way Galaxy was depicted on a Federation star chart in 2293. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, display graphic) The planet's location was also depicted in the star chart Data and Picard were studying in Stellar Cartography in 2371. (Star Trek Generations, display graphic)

In the "The Explored Galaxy" chart, Makus III was located between the Tholian Assembly and Romulus. Both locations were identified in DS9: "The Search, Part II", "Call to Arms" as being located in the Alpha Quadrant. The chart, first seen chronologically in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, was also seen in several Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episodes set in the 24th century, from the year 2364 to 2370. These were TNG: "Conspiracy", "The Measure Of A Man", "The Emissary", "The Mind's Eye", "The Game", and DS9: "In the Hands of the Prophets", "Cardassians".
