Mohandas 'Mahatma' Gandhi was a 20th century Human philosopher from India.

The 24th century Federation starship, USS Gandhi, was named in his honor. (TNG: "Second Chances"; DS9: "Defiant")
Gandhi was played by actor Noel De Souza, and was credited by the spelling of "Ghandi".
According to the script for DS9: "In the Hands of the Prophets", Vedek Bareil Antos was described as being reminiscent of Gandhi.
His mirror universe counterpart was mentioned in The Sorrows of Empire.
