Magnetic fields are created by ferrous materials or electrical current travelling through a circuit. They can be used to manipulate or contain any magnetic or electrically charged particles. Like charges repel and opposite charges attract.

Magnetic field line form loops leaving the "North Pole" of a magnet and travelling outward and returning to the "South Pole". The strength of the field effect is related to the distance from the source of the field.

Controlling magnetic fields with enough precision to contain antimatter is very difficult.
