"You're not my mother!" - Data in a lovers' quarrel

A lovers' quarrel or domestic quarrel is a common phenomenon in Human relationships, specifically romantic relationships. It consists in a conflict between the two parts in the relationship which results in a direct verbal confrontation. One common expression uttered by the male is "you're not my mother!" (TNG: "In Theory")

After the crew of Enterprise recaptured Arik Soong after he escaped from Malik's Bird-of-Prey, Soong explained to Archer that Malik was going to attack the Klingon Qu'Vat colony, urging Archer that he must stop them. To emphasize the repercussions of that attack, Soong stated, "if the Klingons retaliate against Earth, it'll make the Xindi incident look like a lovers' quarrel." (ENT: "The Augments")

It was reported to the USS Enterprise by Lieutenant Lindstrom, in 2267, following the release of Landru's control over the inhabitants of Beta III, that he was aware of "six domestic quarrels and two genuine knock-down drag-outs." (TOS: "The Return of the Archons")

In 2363, Quark and Natima Lang parted ways following, what Quark described as "a lover's quarrel." (DS9: "Profit and Loss")

Data's research into interpersonal dynamics revealed that a conflict in a relationship followed by emotional release often will strengthen the connection between the people in the relationship. He tried to apply this in 2367 to his own short romantic relationship with Jenna D'Sora only to learn that his application was too forced and artificial. (TNG: "In Theory")

Following Tom Paris' association with the shuttlecraft Alice, he and B'Elanna Torres got into a fight over the time he spent with the ship. When reporting it to Kathryn Janeway, who noted that that was not the first time B'Elanna and Tom have had an argument about how he spends his free time, B'Elanna clarified the scenario stating that "this wasn't a lovers' quarrel...he practically assaulted me." (VOY: "Alice")
