In 2047, the Hermosa Earthquake caused the area around the city to sink under 200 meters of water, and it then became the planet's largest coral reef. (VOY: "Future's End, Part I" and "Future's End, Part II")
- It is unclear how much of Los Angeles was destroyed in the quake - Janeway may have been referring to the coastal suburbs only. Certainly, the city has not been mentioned as existing in the 24th century.
