In 2368, Alexander Rozhenko stole a small lizard model from an exhibition in the USS Enterprise-D's biolab. He was caught, and after first denying having anything to do with he theft, he later returned the lizard model. (TNG: "New Ground")

When Captain Kathryn Janeway went on a vision quest, assisted by Commander Chakotay, she encountered a small lizard on a piece of wood next to the ocean and realized that the reptile was her animal guide. (VOY: "The Cloud")
