The armed guard prevented Kathryn Janeway and Leonardo da Vinci from beaming to USS Voyager during their escape attempt from the pirate Tau. They used a glider, invented by Da Vinci, to elude the armed guard and the rest of Tau's men. (VOY: "Concerning Flight")
