The life support belt is a personal forcefield that supplies the wearer with the appropriate atmosphere and protects them from the elements. It was in use in the late 2260s aboard the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701).
- The life support belt was only ever seen in the animated series, although we saw several kinds of personal forcefields in later series.
The belt was created due to the low budget of TAS. It was easier for cartoonists to simply draw a belt and yellow glow around charactors than to redraw them with an environmental suit.
