Voyager joins a fleet answering a distress call.

Summary[]

"Captain's log, stardate 50772.1. In the last few hours, USS Voyager has twice faced, a sight none of us on board would care to see ever again – the Federation battle against the Borg at Wolf 359. It was discovered to be a visual echo of the events of six years ago, generated by a rift in our temporal continuum. Sixteen survivors of that battle emerged from the rift in Federation escape pods, after they locked onto our navigational deflector. Our efforts to keep them in this temporal plane, however were unsuccessful. The rift has reopened."
"… And now Commander Athena Rand must lead her people off Voyager and back into the temporal void – or else our own ship will be pulled in with them. However, one Voyager crew member has decided to join the survivors – security Lt. Josh Rand, Commander Rand's nephew."

Background information[]

  • There is a one-page recap before the initial double-page spread that was intentionally done. Editor Tim Tuohy explained, "I was a big fan of the Claremont/Byrne X-Men. In those issues they had a page formula of: recap followed usually by a double-page spread. Laurie and I liked this format and wanted to utilize it because there had been some discussion about people not reading the cover recaps." [1]
