Yeoman Leslie Thompson was a Starfleet crew member on the USS Enterprise, serving under Captain James T. Kirk.
Thompson was a member of the landing party that encountered the Kelvans on a Class M unnamed planet in 2268 on stardate 4657.5. Thompson was reduced to a dehydrated cuboctahedral crystalline solid block, the size of a human fist and which represented the "distilled" essence of her being, by the Kelvan Hanar on the orders of Kelvan leader Rojan to demonstrate his power to Kirk. Rojan crushed and crumbled the block in his hands, killing Thompson. Kirk founding himself mourning her, unable to stop thinking about her destruction. (TOS: "By Any Other Name")
Thompson was played by actress Julie Cobb, who had the dubious distinction of being the only female redshirt to die in the classic series.
